When is the Best Time to Publish Your Content?

Updated: Nov 11, 2022

When is the best time to publish for maximum views?

So you've spend hours writing up the perfect content, meticulously editing and checking the SEO is as good as it can be. But all that work will be for nothing if no one actually reads your work - and that means ensuring your content gets posted to your users at the right time.

While every audience is different and therefore a peak time for posting may seem impossible to pin down, there are definitely times and days that will work better. And that time is, obviously, when your audience is going to be online, see the content, and engage with it. So how do you figure it out?

Market Research

Step one is to do some market research in order to define your target audience and figure out their habits. When are they most regularly online? What are they doing? Where are they shopping? How much money do they spend? Where are there geographically? Software like Google Analytics can help you access some of this data. Generally, most audiences are online in the morning before work between 6 and 9am, at lunchtime between 12 and 2pm, and after work between 4 and 6pm.

The Best Time & Day

At the moment, most results state that Monday's are the best time to post as most blog posts receive the most traffic on this day. 11am appears to be the best time to post, while Saturdays are the day blogs receive the most comments.

It's Not All About Timing

Remember - while timing is important, it's equally as important to be consistent with your posts. Sharing and developing good content on a regular basis is what attracts readers, causing more active viewers to seek you out over time. You need to answer their questions and deliver content that hits the target. You also need to concentrate on readability and overall structure. And don't forget images and videos; these too have an impact on how long readers stay on the page.

Posting one to two posts a week will also make it far easier for your site to be found. The more you post, the more of a compound effect this will have on your website's traffic.

Backlinks, comments, and shares will help further boost your content and cultivate ongoing traffic. Over time, when you post won't be as important - but during the early days, making use of this readily available information will assist you in reaching that day sooner.
